We offer a variety of children’s programs – check our Calendar of Events to see! Special programming is offered Every P.A. Day and the TD Summer Reading Club runs annually through the summer months of July & August. If you have an idea for an event, or would like to book a customizable tour of the library as a class or individually, feel free to Contact Us.

Stop by any of our 3 branches with proper identification to sign yourself or your child up for a library card. Check out our Online Catalogue to see books on many parenting and teaching topics. Our newest children’s books can be found Here.

Also enjoy free online access to a wide variety of E-Resources. All that is needed is a valid GHPL Library card (unless accessing from inside the library). Some kid-specific examples are below.

Britannica Public Library Edition For KidsBritannica Public Library Edition for Kids – Far more than an encyclopedia. It also includes journals & magazines, videos, images and more.

Novelist K-8 – Specifically designed to help kids find titles that are just right for their reading level & interests. Includes tools  for parents and teachers too! Also available in French.

Homework Zone: TVO kids is a great starting point for award winning shows and games, as well as various types of exercises and videos. The website also provides resources to learn and practice math, science, and language.

The Internet

Here at Grey Highlands Public Library we encourage parents , guardians and teachers to become familiar with the Internet and gain an awareness of the dangers and risks involved in its use. Please use the following websites as a reference tool for learning how you can help educate others about internet safety.

Be Web Aware – Information and tips for parents on how to help young people enjoy the benefits and manage the risks of being on the Internet. Includes blogs, games, workshops and more.

Safe Kids Canada– Safe kids’ mission is to lead and inspire a culture of safety across the country using a comprehensive and innovative approach. It specializes in helping to prevent serious injuries.

Get Cyber Safe – From the Government of Canada, this site offers tips on how to protect yourself from cyber threats.
